A Greek Tragedy

Recent news is filled with European drama. Political intrigue is on the agenda as Hungary's prime minister has admitted saying that his party lied to the public to win April's general election, while the director of Greece's competition watchdog has been remanded in custody pending trial on extortion and blackmail charges.

In one of the country's biggest corruption cases, Greece is ranked the most corrupt country in the 12-nation eurozone area by global anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International.

Still in Greece, two Scottish tourists are being held in a Greek prison after being arrested for an alleged drunken incident on a flight from Glasgow to Zakynthos in August. The pair reportedly face up to 20 years in jail.

And finally, passions of a less tragic nature can be seen roused by a German student in China, a UK artist in America and the first civilian woman in space.
