Press Snippets: Getting Tarkan on Record
In a recent collection of news reports covering Tarkan, stories include rumours and speculations on a new album, including a collaboration with Barbadian R&B recording artist and model, Rihanna (see left pic).
Last September the Turkish press had reported that Rihanna had refused to duet with the recording artist, claiming that their schedules clashed.
A Rihanna Duet?
Turkish paper Hürriyet's Europe edition writes that Tarkan is working on his second English language album, which the report claims will include a track featuring Rihanna.
Tarkan will be recording half the album in London and half the album in New York, with plans to finish the record in the summer. The album is set to be released under a international label, Hürriyet writes.
Elsewhere, in another report by Hürriyet Europe, there is news of female radio DJ Mine Dönmez working in Sweden to promote Turkish music on her show (see top left pic).
The article prints that Dönmez's Swedish listeners love listening to Tarkan.
Love Gossip, but not Tarkan's
Meanwhile, in a column in media portal Haberturk's variety section H2, written by Esin Övet, Tarkan is mentioned in regard to his private and public life (see top left pic).
Starting the subject of Tarkan by talking about a chance meeting with Tarkan's ex-girlfriend, businesswoman and lady lawyer Bilge Öztürk, Övet writes that like everyone else she asked Öztürk whether Tarkan had called her to congratulate her on the new man in her life.
"Without missing a beat, [Öztürk] said [to me], "Of course he called me, he never forgets." It was a graceful retort, worthy of Tarkan, I congratulate her.
"And while I'm on Tarkan, I'm curious about Tarkan's new album, too. But he is still working on it. Please, Tarkan finish it so we can listen to it!" she exclaims.
