We Do Not Want You Here

i

Go. We do not want you here.
We - the many that remain -
outgrew you from the first.

Go. Do not stay here. Do not tarry.
Move on. Move quickly on.
We do not want you here.

ii

You are like a great cold, whose mist
hangs in the air when it comes. But we shall walk through you,
and make corridors for our faithful to follow through.
So go. We do not want you here.

We, those of us that have liquidated all borders
have no need of you telling us
who you think we are.

We are the sun. You are the moon.
You steal our light, but foolishly think
that if we go, you will still shine bright.
Go shine elsewhere with what you have stolen from us,
until that light fades far from its original source.
We do not care. But go from here.
We do not want you here.
We have outgrown you.

iii

Whatever you do, we shall remain
until the dying of the light,
for the sun does not flee the night.

It merely allows the world its turn.
It brings a change back from the day
and allows an entrance to night,
but still burns bright by its own light.
It rivals the sky for height
and moves the clouds to tears.

But no one here will cry if you go.
So go. We do not want you here.
Do not infect us with your fears.

iv

We are not here to create twilights
for you to stand and admire
beneath our high glassy sky,
and then let you put the lights out.

We - the many that remain -
throw you out instead.
Go back to the pettiness
of your own head, where what you say
will find a response in its empty echo.

Go. We do not want you here.
We have too much to do
to bother with you.

v

We who remain are glowing,
for we are not afraid to scour ourselves clean
from within. Here we walk in a dawn air,
subtly infused with gold light.
Here we feel young again.

We have laid ourselves bare
for our friends here. But not for you.

Go. We do not want you here.
We - the many that remain -
have outgrown you.

Go. Do not stay here. Do not tarry.
Move on. Move quickly on.
We do not want you here.
We have outgrown you.
