Press Snippets: Passing Tarkan

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportsThree reports make mention of recording artist today in the Turkish press, two from Milliyet's variety supplement Cadde, while Bugün correspondent Aykut Işıklar adds Turkey's megastar into his column, too (see left pic).

Milliyet's Cadde claims that Tarkan is "leaving Turkey" to move to Star Island on Miami Beach in Florida, which has housed many celebrities since its creation including Lenny Kravitz, Will Smith, Gloria Estefan, Madonna, P.Diddy, and Sylvester Stallone.

The article writes that Tarkan has said to close sources he is waiting for his drug case to come to an end this month, before moving out to America, while he will close his recent renovated villa in Istanbul until "he gets married" when he will move in.

Meanwhile, a second Cadde article has posted the previous news about Tarkan's ex-girlfriend Bilge Öztürk getting angry with reporters for still asking her about Tarkan after having split up with the singer years ago.

Writing that businesswoman and lawyer Öztürk was visibly angry at reporters, she is quoted to have said, "What right do you have to ask me these questions?"

And finally, Bugün correspondent Işıklar has talked Tarkan in reference to two current TV stars in Turkey being the new darlings of young girls and the media in Turkey.

"They've surpassed the likes of Tarkan," he claims.

Tarkan Bodyguard Talks

Screencap of reportAnd finally, celebrity portal Ayakli Gazete has quoted Tarkan's close aide and bodyguard Levent Ağaoğlu responding to media claims last month that he was having difficulties getting paid by Tarkan.

Dismissing such claims as outrageous, "Of course Tarkan is paying me. Such a thing is ridiculous," he is quoted to have said.

In April, Bugün writer Batuhan Özkardeşler had prepared a piece on Tarkan claiming that drugs has dried up the singer's "money well" and had claimed Ağaoğlu was saying to close friends that he had parted ways with his famous employer due to financial problems.
