Tarkan Returns to True Self

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportFemale columnist Gül Erçetingöz, writing for celebrity portal Gecce has praised Tarkan and his latest musical offering "Sevdanın Son Vuruşu" ("Love's Last Strike"), stating that she loves the song and believes the police custody crisis Tarkan went through has only helped make him stronger.

Erçetingöz had previously slammed Tarkan in a December 2009 column, but after the internet release of Tarkan's new teaser track, the columnist is now singing to a more different tune.

"Thank Goodness for That, Tarkan's Returned to Form"

"I haven't been able to stop listening to Tarkan's latest song "Sevdanın Son Vuruşu" for days since it hit the internet. It's amazing how with every listen you love it even more, admire it more. Tarkan has finally done it, and fulfilled the frustration of not being able to capture a hit song for two years with "Sevdanın Son Vuruşu".

"I always say it; every cloud has a silver lining... And sometimes the unfortunate incidents Tarkan goes through are good for him and he conveys himself with the most beautiful songs.

"I don't know if you remember but Tarkan's naked photographs were published everywhere years ago. It rocked [the country], but what did Tarkan do? He overcame the crisis well and in spite of those naked pictures, he released a killer album for his fans! The same thing has happened now; his name got mixed up in a drugs case but his response was once again an album and songs...

"And this time the song is just like the songs of old... Like "Dön Bebeğim" and "Kış Güneşi" (A-acayipsin, 1994), "İkimizin Yerine" (Ölürüm Sana, 1997), "İstanbul Ağlıyor" (Metamorfoz, 2007), and now, now here's "Sevdanın Son Vuruşu" Tarkan said to his fans... This song is my gift to you, lament as you listen to it, cry for all the loves that will come and go.

"Bravo Tarkan, this is what you are, you see! We loved you with such songs and will continue to love you. To make mistakes is human, what's important is to learn from those mistakes... My wish is that from now on you'll be [a good] role model for those that love you, to give them [good] messages with your beautiful songs...

"You have so many people that love you; even you can't possibly imagine how many they are. I pray for your future to be open and bright, don't bring your fans face to face with such unfortunate incidents again, we love you, we always will..."
