Turkey and the US are becoming the best of enemies/AFP
  1. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused the US of trying to "bring Turkey to its knees through threats over a pastor" and "stabbing it in the back", and that it would look for new friends and allies if America failed to change course.
  2. Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan - all bordering the Caspian Sea - have agreed in principle on how to divide up the world's largest inland body of water, highly-prized for its vast oil and gas reserves.
  3. The US and UK have remained silent in a spat between Canada and Saudi Arabia over its human rights record, prompting Rachel Curran, a policy director under former Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper, to tweet that Canada did "not have a single friend in the whole entire world".
  4. Elon Musk has outlined his plan to take Tesla private and said he discussed financing the deal with Saudi Arabia. The Tesla founder said he had met with the Saudi sovereign wealth fund after it bought a 5% stake in the company.
  5. Novelist Sir VS Naipaul, who won the Nobel Prize in literature, has died aged 85. His numerous critics say his writing was troubling and even bigoted, especially against Islam, but for the Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, Naipaul represented third-world people "not with sugary magic realism but with their demons, their misdeeds and horrors - which made them less victims and more human".
  6. Broadcaster and wife of a UKIP Welsh Assembly member, Christine Hamilton has been removed as a charity ambassador after comparing burkas to the hoods of the Ku Klux Klan, while Danish designer Reza Etamadi used the runway to make a political statement at Copenhagen Fashion Week about the Denmark "burka" ban.
  7. A British Airways check-in worker has said the company's dress code discriminated against him after he was sacked for his man bun hairstyle.
  8. Kanye West has denied being stumped when asked on TV about his support for President Donald Trump - saying he didn't have time to reply, while Idris Elba has posted a cryptic tweet suggesting he could be the next James Bond.
  9. YouTube stars and fans are gathering in London for Summer in the City, the UK's largest and longest-running online video festival.
  10. US space agency Nasa has launched its mission to send a satellite closer to the Sun than any before. The probe is set to become the fastest-moving manmade object in history.
