Light a Candle

Light a CandleThe Internet has been a liberating thing, there is no doubt about that.

Yet, there are dark recesses in that world.

The advent of the Internet has enabled instant access to child pornography, making the child-pornography industry a multi-billion dollar commercial enterprise and one of the fastest growing businesses on the Internet. The ability to use credit cards and other payment methods has made purchasing child pornography easier than ever. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of reports of child pornography on the Internet. More disturbingly, however, is that the victims are becoming younger and younger and the images are progressively more graphic and more violent.

The innocent victims of Internet child abuse cannot speak for themselves.

But we can.

With our help, we can eradicate this evil trade.

As is usual, I'm not asking for your money.

We just need to light a candle of support at Light a Million Candles.

They're aiming to light at least One Million Candles by December 31, 2006.

This petition will be used to encourage governments, politicians, financial institutions, payment organisations, Internet service providers, technology companies and law enforcement agencies to eradicate the commercial viability of online child abuse.

They have the power to work together. We have the power to get them to take action.

All you need to do is light your candle at Light a Million Candles or send an email of support.

Together, we can destroy the commercial viability of Internet child abuse sites that are destroying the lives of innocent children and raping our future.

The hardest step is to start to care, the rest just comes naturally.

Go tell your friends, relatives and work colleagues so that they can light a candle too.
