Tarkan: Patron Saint of Turkish Music

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

BMG Music Publishing (Bertelsmann Music Group) and Turkey's biggest music publisher Taxim Edition have signed a joint venture agreement that will provide global support for Taxim's songwriters.

Under the agreement, BMG Music Publishing will represent Taxim's local artists outside of Turkey. Taxim will continue to sub-publish BMG Music Publishing’s catalogue of more than one million copyrights in Turkey.

Owning licensing rights to some of the biggest music artists in Turkey, including Tarkan, head of Taksim Edition Mine Aksoy revealed that they had made around $30,000 in Russian mobile phone melody sales of Tarkan's "Kuzu Kuzu" and "Dudu" songs in just two months.

BMG Music Publishing company is the world's third largest music publisher and the world's largest independent music publisher.

Support for Ex-Backing Singer Boz

Murat Boz, one time backing singer for TarkanMeanwhile Tarkan continues to give his full support to Murat Boz, one time backing singer who has decided to pursue a solo career after working with Tarkan for five years.

It has been reported that Boz will be filming a pop video to his track "Püf", composed by his famous ex-employer, and that Tarkan will be making an appearance in the recording.

Turkey's international music artist is quoted to have said of Boz, "I believe he's going places. He always has my full support."

Tarkan has featured in music videos with other Turkish singers before, most notably for female song collaborator Nazan Öncel and more recently for a duet with female singer Kibariye.
