Tarkan Idol Competition

Press Release reported by British culture agency Prickly Pear

Tarkan Idol CompetitionMusic promoters Absolute Events (London) Ltd, in association with ITV Local London and Turkish channel DEM TV, are running a special competition for London's Tarkan idols to win tickets to the superstar's Wembley Arena concert on Sunday 13 April. Entrants must perform like Tarkan at one of four London venues for a chance to win and be put through to the final of "Tarkan Idol", to be televised on DEM TV's weekly Londra Magazin programme, with highlights shown online at ITV Local London. Viewers will be invited to vote for their favourite Tarkan entertainer and the finalist securing the most viewer votes will win a VIP prize, including tickets to Tarkan's after-party.

The first part of "Tarkan Idol" takes place on 28-29 March at four venues: Café Dora (Stoke Newington), Cyprus Meze Bar (Lea Bridge Road), Filli (Old Street), or Stone Cave (Dalston). London's budding Tarkan imitators can show off their talents by performing (singing & dancing) to Tarkan tracks for a chance to earn themselves fame and tickets to the star's London show. The audience at each venue will select the best Tarkan entertainer on the night to go forward to the televised final on DEM TV.

Footage from the first round of "Tarkan Idol" will be broadcast on Londra Magazin's Sunday 6 April show at 22:00 (UK time), with the clip of the four venue champions and competition finalists repeated online on DEM TV, and ITV Local London. Viewers can vote for their favourite Tarkan Idol at DEM TV online. Voting closes 23.59 on Thursday 10 April, with the winner announced on Friday 11 April.

The competition is open to anyone over 18 – male or female – who think they have what it takes to be the ultimate Tarkan Idol. Entrants can be dead ringers, singing divas or just great jivers who've got all the Tarkan moves! For further details and competition rules, check on the news section of Absolute Events' website, (English), or DEM TV's website (Turkish).

Those too camera-shy to perform will be pleased to know there are still some tickets left for Tarkan's Wembley concert on sale across London. In addition to Wembley Box Office and Absolute Events' Camberwell office, tickets can now also be purchased from Cyprus Meze Bar, Mem's Barbers, Sun-El Travels, Stone Cave (Tas Magara), Toplum Postasi, Yasar Hallim, and Zen Turkce Bar. Tickets are priced between £40 and £70. The seven new ticket outlets are selling standing tickets only priced £50, although you can order, pay and reserve seats. Please note, for safety reasons, under-16s are not permitted in the standing area.
