Tarkan Show Reports

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

A digest of news reports from the Turkish press last week highlight Tarkan in high spirits as he performed at a promotional show for the sponsor of his domestic summer tour sponsor Doritos and appeared at his first university festival.

Vatan reportOn 15 May Tarkan had performed at a party held at Istanbul's Discorium club to promote Doritos' music campaign, in which the soft snacks giant will be promoting the pop artist's 2008 Turkish summer tour.

Supplying its readers with a gallery of photographs from the performance, newspaper Vatan (see left pic) and media portal Haberturk reported the evening's event as one that went off well, with Tarkan in visibly good spirits as he took to the club's stage for a mini concert, singing five songs rather than three as he was previously reported to perform.

Both articles - along with other news reports - headlined that when Tarkan was called back for an encore he reportedly tripped and fell, but returned to the stage as though nothing had happened and sang his hits "Kuzu Kuzu" and 2007 smash "Vay Anam Vay".

Students that helped organise and attended the festival emailed Tarkan Deluxe with reports that festival tickets were priced at 50 YTL ($40/€25) (though there were rumours that prices would be as high as 70 YTL), and that Tarkan gave a great performance which nearly lasted for 2 hours, singing many of his classic hits alongside his 2007 tracks.
