Tarkan at the Harbiye in August?

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportsTurkish paper Sabah has mentioned Tarkan in three articles, with one making the front page of their variety section Günaydın that heralds Tarkan's return to performing live this summer (see left pic).

Özlem Avcı's article writes that Tarkan's music company HITT will be once again organising summer open air concerts at the Harbiye in Istanbul for this August.

Alongside Tarkan, the article writes that Ajda Pekkan, Serdar Ortaç and Sibel Can have also signed up to appear in the own shows for the series of concerts run every summer.

Having appeared at the 2nd and 4th summer gigs - organised by HITT - Tarkan had once again dazzled fans for the season's 5th year in 2009.

Tarkan had also been reported with Pekkan after making a surprise appearance at her summer open air concert at the Harbiye in Istanbul last year, while rumours are still alive that the pair may duet together at Turkish music station Kral TV's 16th annual video and music awards ceremony on 17 May.

Meanwhile, a second Sabah report involves an interview with Turkish diva Pekkan herself in the run up to the paper's 25th anniversary celebrations, in which she mentions Tarkan and his arrest in March following an anti-drug sting.

"Tarkan was taken into police custody in 2010. It was really upsetting. For someone who is loved by so many it is really damaging. There can be mistakes made in everyone's lives, everyone has ups and downs.

"Being famous means being open to everything. Fame means isolation. We are all isolated really. He's lonely, too. But his fans will support him. It could be a lie, too. He is a great artist, and I believe he will overcome this," she is quoted as saying.

And finally, in an interview with radio station Show Radyo's director and radio DJ Hakan Demir, sees the production manager list Tarkan's hit track "Kış Güneşi" (Winter Sun), from Tarkan's second album A-acayipsin (1994) as one of his all time favourite tracks.
