Press Snippets: Tarkan Set to Explode?

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportLifestyle portal Cafe Ruj has published an article about Tarkan's latest song released yesterday "Sevdanın Son Vuruşu" ("Love's Last Strike").

Uğurhan Doğan's article claims that the new album will be called "Patlıyorum" - a name which has been rumoured since 2009 (see left pic).

The article has caused some dispute in the twittersphere, as a certain fan forum member declared the pictures used by the article to be from them and used without permission.

Posting up a picture of Tarkan in the studio (in Los Angeles he says), in the Cafe Ruj article Doğan writes Tarkan's UGG boots are an indication of a new look coming soon from Tarkan, and that he is expected to appear at music station Kral TV's 16th VMAs.

It's rumoured that Tarkan closely followed the public's reaction to his latest song, and was to determine on the results whether he would appear at the award ceremony. With such a strong approval rating a boost to his morale, it seems almost certain that the singer will now make an appearance at the event this Monday evening.

Meanwhile, paper Hürriyet has run another article on Tarkan's latest song in their culture section, this time reporting about the back story of the song. It's rumoured the lyrics were discovered in a bin two months after the death of lyricist Aysel Gürel and sent to Tarkan in 2008.

And media portal Haberturk has run two articles; the news of Tarkan's "May gift" to his fans, and an Esin Övet piece which touches on Tarkan. The female columnist seems a bit behind the times in her recent column, as she likens convicted cocaine addict, female pop singer Deniz Seki to Tarkan's drug case - hoping that their new album releases will get them both on their feet again.
