Tarkan's Pop Protégé Proud

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan's pop protégé Emir - who was snapped by Tarkan's music label HITT after their mutual friend and producer Ozan Çolakoğlu brought them together - has been reported in an interview published by Milliyet's variety supplement Cadde as saying he is proud to be associated with Tarkan.

When asked what lessons he had learnt from Tarkan on his way to becoming a professional singer, Emir replied just to do his job well, and that this is what Tarkan wanted, too. And when asked whether it was a handicap to be like Tarkan, he replied, "No. The opposite, it opened doors for me.

"[Having Tarkan's support] makes me feel proud of myself. I've achieved the impossible."

The 2009 newcomer has recently released his fourth video single to "Şiki Şiki" - the track which is said to have caught Tarkan's attention and made him agree to meet with Emir.
