Romani Singer Salutes Tarkan

According to news reports in the Turkish press, female Romani singer Kibariye has mentioned Tarkan as she rallies support for a benefits show.

Reportedly Turkish artists Tarkan, Sezen Aksu and Şebnem Ferah have agreed to take part in a charity gig celebrating Kibariye's 40 years in the music business. Proceeds will go to opening a Romani school of culture.

The arabesque singer called the Turkish A-list singers her "comrades in arms".

"I arrived at my successes with them. Tarkan has always supported me," she is quoted to have said.

"And that's why I'm very happy."

Tarkan collaborated with Kibariye in 2006 on a duet to a cover version of one of his tracks. He also appeared in the music video with Kibariye.

Tarkan and Ferah will also be appearing on the same album this summer, on Turkish producer İskender Paydaş' highly anticipated album - expected to be released this month.
