In my "Five Turkish Things for Foodies" post I shared five articles about food and drink with a Turkish flavour. Here I share two more to whet your appetite.

1. Around the world in 50 dishes (MSN Food & Drink)

From succulent barbecued ribs to peppers filled with shredded meat, MSN UK added the doner kebab from Turkey as one of its must-try dishes from 50 countries. A doner kebab is made of meat cooked on a vertical spit that is wrapped in a flatbread or served as a sandwich." 2. Things you didn't know about Nutella (MSN Food & Drink/The Telegraph)

When Michele Ferrero, the man and Monaco billionaire at the head of the family behind Nutella, died this year at the age of 89, MSN UK (courtesy of The Telegraph) published some things you might not have known about the chocolate empire he left behind, chief amongst them being that while Nutella's roots are Italian, its hazelnuts are Turkish. Turkey produces more than two thirds of the world's hazelnuts, while Ferrero is the world's largest consumer of hazelnuts. Ferrero has protected itself against market pressures by buying Oltan, a major producer of Turkish hazelnuts." (Link/Screencap)
