UPDATE: Tarkan to perform in Russia >>
By returning to the same Moscow venue he staged a show in ten years ago during his "Prince of the East" Russian Tour in 2009, the article writes that the "much loved" artist will be performing in Moscow, Kazan and two more shows as yet to be officially confirmed in May as part of the special year for our bilateral relations.
Russian language news wires have also picked up on Tarkan's return in conjuction with the year-long festival celebration of Turkish-Russian culture and friendship. It kickstarts on 8 April, aiming to strengthen political and cultural ties between the two nations, with Tarkan pulled into the festivities for May shows in Russia.
The "Year of Culture" plans to highlight the importance of Russian and Turkish cooperation in political and business investments, and the Turkish Foreign Ministry hopes to use Tarkan's popularity in Russia to bolster a touristic drive to Turkey after the popstar's performances in Moscow and Kazan.
In December last year there had been stories in the press that Tarkan would be performing in Russia in 2019. Sputnik's Turkish language edition wrote about the possibility of a Tarkan concert to help strengthen ties between Ankara and Moscow.
