Tarkan's Female Solidarity
"Continue to fight for your rights. We are stronger together ... and I'm with you with all my heart," the singer wrote under a video share documenting the history of Women's Day and its celebration in Turkey today.
In previous years, Tarkan has made it a point to mark International Women's Day for 8 March, and is well-known for his support over women's issues. He took the opportunity to expressly condemn violence against women - especially domestic violence - on his social media channels for Women's Day in 2014 and in 2013.
Last year for Women's Day he continued his call for female empowerment, when the artist shared a video from a leading paint brand that had given prominent backing to protests over the 2015 brutal slaying of 20-year-old female student Özgecan Aslan in southern Turkey.
Following nationwide protests over Aslan's senseless murder, the singer had signed a "record-breaking deal" with the leading paint brand.
Tarkan Gets Sociable
Before Friday's post, Tarkan shared a Tuesday video of a walk in the woods, and a Thursday Throwback post to his US shows.
His "man of nature" status was on display last Tuesday, as the singer posted a kaleidoscopic rendering of his tree-time with a wink and a smile, while for the following Throwback Thursday he posted a video slide of photographic memories from his 2017 Live in the US Tour sponsored by Turkish streaming site fizy.
This year Tarkan is scheduled to perform in Russia, while claims in the Turkish press say there are also plans for performances in Central Asia.
The region consists of the former Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
