Tarkan Helps Write History

Tarkan on stage in BakuIn connection with Azerbaijani Republic Day on May 28, Azercell organized for its subscribers as they reported, "the greatest concert programme ever to be carried out", in their music history.

The concert was held on May 27 in the Republic's Tofig Bahramov Stadium with the participation of Turkish singer Tarkan.

Tarkan sang a collection of his Turkish songs spanning a career that has passed the 10 year mark.

Azeri sources report that the concert gathered more than 100,000 subscribers of Azercell*. The concert will stick in memory as the largest concert to be held in Azerbaijani musical history so far.

*CNN Turk has quoted the figure as 40,000 - although TV reports have repeated the 100,000 tally and video footage bears out the higher number.
