A Christmas Gift
I do not show such emotion very easily, maybe it is the Christmas season, but I want every person that has emailed me to know that I am overwhelmed by all the support that has been sent to me.
I want to truly thank you all so much. Please know that I have stored this positive energy, ready to use it in the new year.
I also want to thank everyone for the way in which they have showed their support.
There has been no abusing other people, making fun of others or just simply showing delight in sour circumstances. All I have received is positive support, not given at the expense of others.
To see this indication of the type of people that read this blog, is more a testament to it than anything I could ever write here.
I have a difficult choice. On one hand, I want to publish a selection of these mails as a thank you to those that have written to me, but on the other hand, some are so personal and so warm that I feel it is wrong somehow to pluck all the kind words I have housed in my heart and share that intimacy here.
I want to protect your kindness and yet share it at the same time.
I want you to know that all these mails have each been like a Christmas gift to me.
I want you to know that my family and friends thank you for this positive energy, too. For what you have sent in such abundance to me, I have shared in action and words with them.
I mean that to share kindness is a kind of circle, or like that child's game, pass the parcel. What you give out in turn is given to someone else. Love creates love.
And I don't like to receive gifts without giving one back.
I thought long and hard about what sort of gift I could give you today.
Whatever I do will of course fall short from what I have received from you, but here is my gift to you.
It is a prayer.
After reading this something special will happen to you today.
Something most wonderful will happen to you. You will fall in love, or appreciate even more the one you are with. You in turn will be appreciated.
You will look at the world with complete pride, and see all the potential for good that is out there. You will want to take part in it.
You will see a rose still in bloom.
You will get a gift, the one you always wanted.
You will get a better job.
You will feel the warmth of another person's skin next to your own.
You will get chocolate covered kisses from your children.
You baby will take his first steps, or say her first word.
You will feel loved.
To everyone who celebrates it religiously, or to everyone that just appreciates the spirit of the holiday season, I send this prayer also.
All this I pray and more, happy in the knowledge that it has been sent. You who have dipped into your positive spirit and sent me so much, now I want to give you this gift ready for Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you.
Merry Christmas everyone.
