Greek Island Exodus

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan on stageTarkan was at popular tourist destination Kuşadası yesterday for the next leg of his summer Avea Tour in Turkey.

Appearing on stage for the first time in five years in the region, the artist played to a crowd of 20,000 fans.

Reportedly a mass exodus of fans from the neighbouring Greek islands came ashore to watch that evening's performance, even though the concert was only for Avea GSM subscribers. Tickets were purchased either by subscribing to an Avea phone line, or buying 250 call points.

In stark contrast to his appearance at Kemer, where Tarkan enjoyed parasailing, a short sea cruise and took part in hotel activites with his girlfriend Bilge Öztürk, this time the star decided to remain in his hotel room during the day.

Tarkan spent time with fans in the late afternoon however, as part of the Avea pre-concert activities.

Avea Outdoor Concerts PosterAfter the August 2 concert, Tarkan now takes a break from the Avea Tour for a three date appearance in Istanbul, also sponsored by Avea and organised by Tarkan's own company HITT.

Under the sponsorship of Avea's Istanbul Open Air Concerts for various artists, Tarkan will appear in Turkey's cultural capital city for a specially designed stage show at the Harbiye Open Air Theatre. Due to high demand the singer will appear on three consecutive nights, the 7, 8 and 9 August respectively.

Tickets had been available online, but quickly sold out, prompting organisors to add a further two dates.
