Tarkan in October Celebrations

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan in Istanbul's City Council buildingCelebrity news supplement Kelebek has today released news online that Tarkan has agreed to appear for this year's 29 October Turkish Republic celebrations, to be staged by the Greater Municipality of Istanbul.

Aiming to take inspiration from Australia's end of year celebrations, Mayor Kadir Topbaş and Tarkan met for talks at the municipality buildings recently. Speaking to reporters after a meeting that lasted nearly an hour, the Turkish singer was reported to have said that "It's going to be a great event. We're gonna make some noise."

This news has still not been confirmed by the municipality's official site at time of writing.

Last year's celebrations included special laser and light effects, while Turkish pop musician and personal friend of Tarkan, Kenan Doğulu, gave a concert on the waterways of the Bosphorus.
