Woman [2]
woman, you arrived in my life
like morning's first sight,
tiny steps of light that
march upon the darkness;
you gave me soil
and grew so many beautiful
things in me, even out
of dead things I had buried;
if you should leave,
your spaces will still breathe
your air, every love after
will be loved a little with you,
and when memories ask of you,
wondering where you are,
I'll tap lightly on my chest
as if to say not far.
