Tarkan Visits Children's Home

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan visited a special school that provides sports, educational and cultural facilities for local children and spent the day with them, including playing a game of ping-pongAfter Tarkan's Diyarbakır leg of his Doritos sponsored Metamorfoz Tour on 7 August, the pop artist remained in the far southerly regions of Turkey to spend a day with local children at a social project school sponsored by the Turkish subsidiary of US company Frito-Lay, the division of PepsiCo, Inc., which manufactures, markets and sells a variety of corn chips, potato chips and other snack foods, including Doritos.

The Turkish pop artist visited the special school - which provides sports, educational and cultural facilities for local children - to spend the day with them, including playing a game of ping-pong.

Overcome with the excitement of meeting Turkey's most famous singer, news articles report that some children broke down in tears as they clung on to Tarkan.

Tarkan

Tarkan had last been in the region to help raise awareness about the building of a dam that could cause the flooding of historical sites to be lost forever and the displacement of the country's minorities.

After visiting with the children, the caring pop artist confirmed to reporters that his as yet unreleased "Uyan" track - produced to raise the alarm over the environment - is set to be out in September.
