Tarkan Celebrates Autism Day
In conjunction with the United Nations declaring tomorrow as World Autism Awareness Day last year, respected news distributor, the Anadolu Agency (AA), has released information regarding Tarkan and his efforts to commemorate the April 2 undertaking to raise awareness of autism this year.
In a move that has unified the Turkish press in a rare moment of praise for the caring star, under the auspices of the Turkish Autism Society and its sponsors Turkish psychiatric society AURA, Tarkan spent time with autistic children yesterday - away from the glare of paparazzi cameras.
In true spirit of the occasion, which also aims to celebrate people with autism, Tarkan teamed up with the society to visit a new home for autistic people that helps them integrate with their surroundings, and teaches them to celebrate their special circumstances.
Speaking of the popular singer who has vowed to do more for the autistic, head of AURA, Dr. Nevin Eracar is reported to have said, "Tarkan brought us hope. His sincerity and warm smile from the moment he met with our children conquered all our hearts."
Gold Lens for a "Golden Heart"
Meanwhile, it has been announced by the Magazin Gazetecileri Derneği (Entertainment Journalists Association) that Tarkan will be bestowed with an honorary award in this year's annual prize-giving party, in recognition of his good works with the Tohum Autism Foundation.
Formed in 1993, the MGD will be hosting their 16th Golden Lens industry awards next month on 12 May at Turkey's largest mall, the Zeytinburnu Olivium Outlet in Istanbul.
It is not expected that Tarkan will attend.
