Tarkan Flies to Egypt
Hot off the press is the news from CNNTurk reporting that Tarkan, on his way to Egypt for a break, has visited the "Yüzüm Umuttur" (Hope is my Face) photo exhibition being displayed at Istanbul Atatürk Airport to raise awareness for the education of young children in Southeastern Turkey (see poster pictured left).
Within the context of the "Long Live Our Schools" project by TOÇEV, the Foundation for Educating Children, the photo exhibition is a co-project that brought together six famous Turkish photographers, who visited village schools in need of renovation and photographed their children in remote regions of Turkey. The exhibition will go around Turkey's main cities.
Tarkan's Latest Campaign: From Nature to Children
While taking a look at the gallery - staged at the airport's international departures area until 9 August - the famous popstar revealed to reporters he would also be taking part in an education campaign in the coming months, before flying out to holiday in Egypt's capital, Cairo.
The news story, writing that Tarkan would be performing concerts for the planned project, quotes the star as saying, "In my opinion every child [in the poor regions] must be educated by those that can afford to do so. Especially girls. Fathers [in the southeast] must be more understanding, and send their daughters to school. Their future shouldn't be taken out of their hands."
Elsewhere, other stories report that the campaign Tarkan will be taking part in is for the Association for Support of Modern Life (Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği) - to do with the education of girls in Turkey.
Tarkan has already raised this foundation's profile when he waived his fee for a much speculated song he gave close friend Sibel Can for her 2009 album Benim Adım Aşk (My Name is Love) on the condition she donate it to the foundation.
Deep Sea Diving in the Red Sea
Meanwhile, entertainment news stories print that Tarkan is flying to Egypt to the Red Sea, which is known as a sought-after diving destination.
Taking photographs with fans before his departure, reporters asked Tarkan about the tattoo on his neck, which made the headlines when it was spotted after a gig in Çeşme this month.
"I've had the tattoo for a year, but no one noticed. I'm not changing, I'm still the same. I'm going to Egypt to swim, I love it. I'm going to dive in the Red Sea. I love nature under the sea. I went for a certificate once, but it needs a lot of discipline.
"I'm going diving now. I made the tattoo for the fish, 'Love me don't eat me'," he reportedly said.
