2. Die Welt journalist Deniz Yucel is being freed from jail in Turkey after a year in detention accused of spreading propaganda, German officials say. Mr Yucel is among more than 100 journalists and writers arrested in Turkey since the failed July 2016 coup attempt against Turkish President President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
3. Elsewhere a Turkish court has sentenced six journalists to life in jail for alleged links to the July 2016 coup plotters. The court ruling was condemned by human rights groups, including the UN and OSCE representatives on media freedom.

The US and Turkey, two of the biggest armies in NATO, have ended up on opposite sides and are preparing to clash in northern Syria, where last week, a top US general said his forces would "respond aggressively" to any Turkish-backed attack on Manbij.
