Tarkan in Moscow

By Marc Saraceni, reporting from Moscow, Russia

Tarkan on stage in MoscowOn the third leg of his international stage appearances, Tarkan gave a stunning performance at the Olimpiisky Sports Complex in Moscow on June 21.

Playing to a capacity crowd of 12 thousand Muscovites, the majority of fans were made up of Russian women and young girls eager to see their idol.

Starting the concert half an hour late at seven-thirty in the early evening, Tarkan looked and sounded amazing last Wednesday. Clearly feeling very much at home in Russia, Tarkan's high adrenalin-pumped appearance affected every area of the packed sports complex.

On asking fans what they thought of the concert, there were only two criticisms. Firstly many felt the concert was too short, and secondly because of the huge amount of people, Tarkan was only visible to those who had been lucky enough to purchase VIP tickets or were close to the front rows.

Some fans suggested he should play in a larger arena next time.

The rest of the crowd, however, were happy enough to hear him and watch him on the large screens provided for the concert. Some lucky female fans also made it on stage to dance with the star, an act which is fast becoming a familiar signature at his concerts.

VIP tickets were sold at 4500 rubles each ($166), with Russian newspaper sources reporting that all the tickets had been sold.

Tarkan had last appeared on stage in Moscow two years ago for a cultural festival. He is appearing on stage at the Danube Island Festival in Vienna later tonight.
