The Poet's Plot

inspiration is
like a fountain

where I go to drink
or to unceremoniously
choke,

sometimes it leaks,
dries up in drought,

or pisses out poems
through grotesquely cherubic
statuesque forms,

sometimes it stays
burning thirst,

as my soul's divining rod
shakes,

cultivating a dug-out
heart to fill out
an olympic swimming pool,

sometimes it leaves
a taste of history,
forever on the tongue,

hoping to delay
ice-tinged regret,

waiting for hotter seas
to curb chill,

logging a touch that rewinds
a little of what remains
at the end of the day.
