The couple celebrated Öztürk's birthday at Istanbul's Heaven 7 Club in Taksim - popular with the Turkish gay community - on Sunday night, along with close family and friends. H2 magazine reporter Ibrahim Şahin went on to report that, expressing the time for marriage was nearing, Tarkan said, "I'm 35 years old. We're not thinking about getting married just yet, but of course like everyone else I want to get married and have a child, too."

Smiling for the cameras after the party, the lovers also revealed that they would be spending Valentine's Day alone in New York.

In Istanbul Tarkan's the Man!

Tarkan features at the IHT's blog GlobespottersMeanwhile, Tarkan has featured in a January post at the International Herald Tribune's blog Globespotters.

Written by Susanne Fowler, and calling the Istanbul music scene "lively and varied", she reports to her readers from Istanbul that "the biggest news on the music scene [is] the most famous Turkish pop singer and a bona fide heartthrob" - Tarkan.

"Vay Anam Vay!, the CD’s peppy opening track [is] sure to be pouring out of record store windows and club amplifiers for months to come," she writes.

With previous styles that "launched a thousand imitations by handsome boys in Beyoglu bars", Fowler also notes Tarkan's more mature image, which she suggests is the only thing "that has morphed. The music is pretty much what you’d expect from the green-eyed god of Turkish pop: a lively dance song, a ballad, lots of rhyming lyrics and hip-swaying Arabesque beats."

Noted to be an invaluable travel resource, Globespotters is an online resource where IHT reporters and editors share tips and recommendations about some of the greatest cities in the world.
