The Tarkan Wembley Concert Fall-Out
Stories in the fall-out after Tarkan's acclaimed showing at Wembley Arena do not show London-based organisers Absolute Events in a good light.
A printed report by Sabah states that Tarkan showed his displeasure at the organisers over the visa difficulties he endured, when trying to enter the country the day before the concert, by refusing to attend a VIP party given in the artist's honour.
The pop sensation had earlier expressed his desire to go to the after-show party in an interview for a BBC London world music programme, but Tarkan Deluxe readers in London for the show informed the blog that he failed to make an appearance.
Mustafa Deryahan's Sabah story goes on to reveal that 950 guests were left disappointed at an exclusive club when the announcement was made, and they were forced to make do with a music act brought over from Istanbul instead.
maNga's Failure to Perform at Wembley
Even though the Turkish press have made little noise over the failure of Tarkan's warm-up Wembley act to perform, behind the scenes it seems that the band maNga and their manager were treated very unprofessionally by Absolute Events.
Close sources claim that the organisers did not provide adequate hotel accommodation and transportation for the band members, in addition to not been given ample time to do a sound check.
The band had taken a collective decision to go on stage at Wembley and personally announce their refusal to perform under the circumstances.
Guitarist Plays Away
It seems the only one that had any joy outside of the concert was Tarkan's guitarist Can Şengün, who, while in London for the Wembley Arena concert, reportedly met Czech Eva Herzigova and spent the entire evening with the beautiful model.
In a Sabah article about the chance meeting, the evening's fun is rumoured to have ended in her hotel room.
Şengün, who has worked on such Tarkan albums as Ölürüm Sana and Metamorfoz, will be glad to note that his own successful entry had not been organised by Absolute Events, otherwise he may have been kept waiting at the door.
