Diamond Artist Tarkan
Aired live on Turkish TV last night, major Turkish music society MÜ-YAP merged its annual music industry awards ceremony with music entertainment channel Kral's 15th entertainment awards to host one of the largest and reputable award ceremonies the domestic music industry will see this year.
As previously reported, Tarkan has been awarded a diamond award in the highest selling album category. The sales of Tarkan's 2007 album Metamorfoz - which went platinum with just two weeks of sales - has now taken the top award this year for achieving the highest sales for an album in 2008 as well.
However, in the jury awards, the Turkish singer had been selected for one 2008 Kral TV award - the music video category for "Dilli Düdük" (Metamorfoz, 2007) - which he lost out to rocker Feridun Düzağaç for "Beni Birakma" (Don't Leave Me), directed by Geoffrey Barbet Massin.
Recent media gossip circulated had claimed that Tarkan would be performing at the 2009 event, but the Turkish singer did not make an appearance at the ceremony.
