Tarkan: Sweet and Loveable

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Turkish paper Sabah ran a story today about the first music academy Tarkan attended, where he received classical music training.

Described as a "very sweet, loveable boy" by the Deputy Head of the Academy, Alaaddin Pakyüz, the report quotes him reminiscing about the singer's time there.

"He was keen to learn and very talented. He was loved by his friends. I was always hearing the name Tarkan, but had thought it someone else. When he came to my room one day and said 'I'm Tarkan', I was surprised," he said.

The Üsküdar Musiki Cemiyeti Academy has a 90 year history of supporting Turkish classical music, with some of the most prominent names of the genre coming from its auspicious halls. It has currently been in its present buildings for nearly half a century.
