Istanbul is Tarkanstruck

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

The August 7 crowd at HarbiyeUnder the organisation of Tarkan's company HITT, and sponsored by Avea, Tarkan has dazzled thousands of crowds that have flocked to see him in a succession of Istanbul concerts recently.

The artist opened a series of outdoor concerts for various artists at the Harbiye Open Air Theatre on the 7 August, with two extra dates on the 8 and 9, following high demand for tickets.

After three consecutive concerts, demand for tickets was such that Tarkan added a fourth date for yesterday evening. Once again completely filling every section of the auditorium, Tarkan gave a breathtaking display of sound and light to over five thousand people on 21 August.

With a few costume tweaks but the same expensive set specially created for the Harbiye concerts, Tarkan once again took Istanbulites on a musical and visual journey through his Turkish and English songs, including a collection of Turkish classical songs in the second part of his stage show.

Unable to sit in their seats, fans of all ages subjected Tarkan to a standing ovation for nearly ten minutes.

Giving one of the most spectacular shows in the open air theatre's history to critical acclaim, the artist has generated a never before seen demand for tickets.

Istanbul has one last time to experience the event of a lifetime. A fifth date has been penned for 25 August.
