Tarkan Screams at Ice Cream Gala
Arriving at the gala of the award-winning comedy Dondurmam Gaymak (English title: Ice Cream, I Scream) yesterday evening, Tarkan and his long-time girlfriend sat with one time music mentor Sezen Aksu.
Filmed with an almost entirely amateur cast and highlighting the misadventures of an unlucky ice-cream seller, Dondurmam Gaymak won two awards at the 4th Queens Film Festival in the United States and is Turkey's Oscar nominee for 2007. One of the film's producers is Tarkan's old girlfriend, female journalist Elif Dağdeviren-Güven.
Held at the Dolmabahçe G-Mall in Istanbul, Tarkan and Aksu dodged the paparazzi by avoiding the main entrance.
Tarkan-Aksu Partnership Re-ignited?
Strengthened by their public appearance together, it is rumoured that Aksu and Tarkan are collaborating together for a new Turkish pop album, which Tarkan had revealed he was working on while in Dubai.
Tarkan and Aksu's successful collaborations had resulted in such continental hits as "Şımarık" and "Şıkıdım", but the two fell out after a dispute involving the ownership of the song "Şımarık". Tarkan had credited himself and his musical arranger to Aksu's song without her permission. It was a mistake he admitted to in a 2006 Turkish magazine interview, explaining that he had apologised to the Turkish pop diva.
Reporters Press Tarkan
As Tarkan left the building by a side entrance, reporters caused a stampede in order to reach the singer. One female journalist shouted at Tarkan angrily that had he spoken to them at the main entrance there would have been no need for the rush. Tarkan retorted to the journalist's complaint by asking her if he was the reason she had come there.
When she answered yes, he replied angrily, "You should've come for the movie, not for me. You're not doing you're job properly."
