All Together: 1-2-3-4...Tarkan!

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan in Turkish play listsHaving previously reported how Tarkan, by reaching the number one slot with his song "Vay Anam Vay" (Metamorfoz, 2007), has unified the major radio play lists across the Turkish nation, the artist's song is also in the top five of remaining charts.

With a new position straight in at number one at Radyo Viva's top 40 play list, the artist has moved up a place to become number two at MTV Türkiye's video play charts. Moreover, while sitting at a reputable third place at Dream TV's chart, the notorious station PowerTurk that initially boycotted Tarkan's video, had the pop icon in fourth position, but slipped him to their fifth place this week.

In addition, a Hürriyet magazine report by female journalist Sinem Vural reveals that on a search of Gracenote's world database - irrelevant of the agenda of certain TV stations - Tarkan's Metamorfoz is currently listed as the number one top album in Turkey.

Gracenote maintains and licenses an Internet-accessible database containing information about the contents of audio CDs. The company provides embedded software and metadata to businesses that enable their consumers to better manage and search digital media.

Tailor Talks Tarkan

Takvim's report on popularity of Tarkan's styleAlongside Tarkan's music, his image is still making the news, too.

Turkish newspaper Takvim reports that the popularity in shiny suits has seen a surge in sales in Turkey, while tailor Turgut Reyhan mentions the pop icon in a recent report he gave for paper Sabah, in which the men's stylist reveals that shoppers coming into the store he manages are constantly asking for "shiny suits".

"Whatever Tarkan wears he sets the standard," he said.
