Environmentally Friendly Tarkan

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan's expensive toy is good for the environmentThe Turkish celebrity pages are writing that Turkish pop star Tarkan has recently acquired a 2008 4x4 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, which can propel itself on electric-only power.

Worth €120, 000 and rumoured to have specially imported the black coloured vehicle from the USA, the gossip mill declares that this "expensive toy" shows that Tarkan is adamant to "go green" in all aspects of his life.

Setting the example of doing more for the environment in Turkey, in 2007 the artist signed up with Turkish nature conservation society the Doğa Derneği and wrote a song called "Uyan" (Wake Up) to raise awareness about Turkey's disappearing wildlife for the society.

The eagerly anticipated track is scheduled to be released as a free gift with the society's magazine, but publication has been postponed twice already.
