Turkish reporters greet Tarkan for his June '09 Elazığ concert

Tarkan Deluxe takes another look at the Turkish press and the buzz surrounding Tarkan recently, with Turkish newspapers Sabah and Vatan featuring the famous pop star - who was recently placed fourth by Esquire magazine in a poll of Turkey's most successful men - amongst a variety of articles.

Sabah's financial sections has an article dated 7 June 2009 headlined "We're discovering PS3 with football and Tarkan", where the head of PlayStation's Turkish division comments that SingStar - the competitive music video game series published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation consoles - is popular in Turkey in large part due to its localised Turkish content that features Tarkan.

Meanwhile, there are more speculations about possible Tarkan tracks for a rumoured 2009 release, with a Vatan article from its entertainment section (see right pic) claiming that Tarkan is now preparing to release the album after summer.

In its short report dated 10 June, Vatan's magazine correspondent also suggests that, since female songwriter Nazan Öncel has appeared on singer Emir's début album produced by Tarkan, this could be a signal the icy relationship between Öncel and Tarkan is about to thaw.

The writer of such Tarkan hits as "Dudu" and "Hüp", Öncel had indirectly replaced the creative absence of Sezen Aksu, when Aksu and Tarkan had professionally parted ways after a 1997 dispute.

However, if other rumours about Tarkan's 2009 album are correct, the singer is planning to work with Aksu again for his follow-up to his 2007 Metamorfoz album.

In the meantime, going back to Tarkan's recent entry into the music market via the production of new act Emir's first album, Sabah, like most papers, is reporting that Emir is just a clone of Tarkan - sharing an uncanny resemblance to his producer in voice and looks.

The pop icon has seemingly enhanced the illusion on purpose by collaborating with Emir on the album to give him a typical Tarkan track, "Ben Sen Olamam" (I Can't Be You) as well as lending his own backing vocals on the recording.

And finally, singer Niran Ünsal and her daughter have added themselves to the growing list of celebrities that mention Tarkan in their news interviews.

In reports published by Sabah, while Ünsal considered Tarkan to be top quality and described his song "Bu Gece" (Ölürüm Sana, 1997) as ground-breaking, her daughter listed the singer as one of the few home acts she listened to.
