Tarkan: A Cultural Icon
Online social calendars for America's famous city, New York, print that "international artist and World Music Award winner" Tarkan will be headlining red carpet charity event Lives NYC this evening as its main performing guest host - for a night of art and music (see left pic).
Scheduled to be broadcasted worldwide by Fashion TV for Fashion Week, in collaboration with US fashion magazine Zink, it's reported that Tarkan will be hosting a celebrity committee with ties in fashion, cinema and music on 16 September, to be held between 9pm-2am (local time) at the RdV luxury lounge, with an open bar sponsored by Pommery Champagne, Stoli Vodka, Hendricks Gin, Vindagra Pinot Grigio, and hors d'oeuvres from Bagatelle.
Lives NYC is an exclusive charity event that has been touted as gathering world renowned artists and celebrities in a glamourous and exclusive atmosphere to support the Emilie Humanitary Foundation's global efforts to provide free surgical care to children in areas of greatest need.

Tarkan had recently attended a New York fashion show, in which he had told a Turkish news agency that he was in America for business and pleasure.
Turkish Export Tarkan in Russia
Meanwhile elsewhere in newspaper reports, Turkish paper Zaman has quoted the head of the board of directors for Turkish foreign trade in fresh fruit and vegetables, Latif Ünal, as saying they have signed an agreement with Tarkan to help promote exported Turkish goods in Russia.
On the same subject, Hürriyet's financial section reveals that Tarkan will be the face of fresh citrus products exported from Turkey in Russia for the Citrus Promotion Group, with the commercials filmed by Turkish director Ezel Akay.
This year Tarkan is scheduled to give three major November concerts in Russia, which holds his largest fan base outside of the Turkic world.
Cultural Ambassador Tarkan
And finally paper Sabah reports that to strengthen ties between Turkey and Europe - especially amongst those countries that are most against Turkey entering the European Union - Turkey aims to use its cultural assets, with Tarkan's name amongst a list of celebrities from the Turkish arts and sport.
The article claims that the cream of the Turkish crop will be asked to sign up to a select committee of cultural ambassadors to help drum up support for Turkish membership into the EU.
Tarkan Deluxe correspondent Mark Mayhey's 2007 article "Diplomatic Licence" had suggested that Turkey use cultural diplomacy to win over Turkey's critics abroad - with Mayhey detailing how the star's home nation could make better use of Tarkan's talents for diplomatic purposes.
