Press Snippets: In the Variety Pages

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan reports in Milliyet's variety pages CaddeThere is recent talk of Turkish recording artist Tarkan cropping up in paper Milliyet's variety pages, Cadde (see left pic).

A Yeliz Aras signed article claims that Tarkan has locked himself away in the studio to finish his highly anticipated album, rumoured to be released in May this year which is expected to include two new songs from Sezen Aksu.

Camping Out at the Studios

The report writes that Tarkan is currently working hard on a new album in the DB music studios located in Kavacık, Istanbul. Having locked himself away for three months to complete recording, the Cadde report prints that Tarkan has decorated the studios with settees from his home in Beykoz for the duration.

Aras writes that the album will be released under the Doğan Music Company ticket, the same as Tarkan's 2007 Metamorfoz offering.

News portal Haberturk had previously run an article of re-hashed stories about the artist's plans for a new album for spring this year.

Other Variety Reports

Elsewhere in Cadde, Tarkan's name appears in the columns of two writers, Çağdaş Ertuna and Bekir Saçar (see top left pic).

Saçar compares female singer Hande Yener's prolonged production for her new album to Tarkan's usual drawn out process - and hopes that it won't share the same fate.

"Tarkan's album was meant to be released in May last year, but a year has passed and there is no still no sign of an album. Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen with Hande Yener," he writes.

And Ertuna talks about bumping into Tarkan's music out on a skiing trip in France, at a popular bistro with late evening music entertainment in Courchevel.

Noting that the bar seemed to playing up to its Russian guests, Ertuna writes that during the course of the evening Tarkan's tracks began playing at Le Bistrot De La Mangeoire.

"Everyone [was] dancing on their tables," she writes.
