Press Snippets: Talks of Imprisonment

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportsNotwithstanding criticisms of the Turkish press that they shouldn't report "possibilities and likelihoods" as though they were the truth, claims out in some papers today write that Tarkan could face up to 9.5 years in prison, after being released on bail following four days in police custody at the start of month (see left pic).

The reports are republishing Sabah's original article, which claims that although Tarkan will not be charged with supplying drugs as part of a drug ring, he might be charged as holding drugs for his own use.

Along with some others detained, including Hürriyet entertainment correspondent Kubilay Keskin, the report claims that if they are charged individually with drug use, they could get prison term ranging from 3.5 to 9.5 years in jail.
