Who Knows Tarkan in America?

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportFemale rock singer Pamela Spence has talked about Tarkan again in another recent report, published by paper Milliyet's variety section Cadde (see left pic).

In response to a question whether she is "thinking of breaking into international markets like Tarkan", she is written to have said: "Everyone does. But what we in Turkey think that means is to sing concerts to the Turkish diaspora abroad.

"But it's completely different to be someone that everyone knows in America or England, because sadly it's these two countries that determine popular culture and world music. Sure, Tarkan is our most well known artist, but if I asked an American friend of mine today he won't know who he is."

"Romania's Madonna" Loves Tarkan

Elsewhere, Romania's answer to Madonna - according to Magazinci - Anda Adam has listed Tarkan as amongst her favourite Turkish artists in a report published by the variety portal.

Coming to Turkey for a series of concerts and to promote her album, she also expressed the desire to perform on stage with Turkish singer/songwriter Serdar Ortaç.
