Will Prince Tarkan Go to Kral's Ball?
Although last week media portal Haberturk had reported the claim that Tarkan had finally accepted to appear at Kral TV's 16th annual video and music awards ceremony on 17 May, official sources still cannot confirm whether the artist will in fact be making an appearance, Tarkan Deluxe can write at time of going to press.
Despite the accuracy of reports that Tarkan's music company HITT is organising the event, HITT's official website carries no update as to this, or any confirmation of an appearance by Tarkan.
Kral TV had run a TV news spot on the back of the Haberturk article, but a day after the news broke Haberturk removed the article from its site and music station Kral has not aired the TV spot about the singer's planned contribution since last Friday.
UPDATE: Kral Show Report Back Online >>
It decided to replace it the following day with a report about the ongoing organisation of the event instead. The TV spot talks of the changes being made to this year's ceremony, which includes giving a concert air with front stalls to be erected by the stage, with plans for fans to be able to participate in the event. However, no mention is made of Tarkan, but HITT rep Ali Konur goes through some of the details of the evening.
With Tarkan fans eagerly awaiting further details, according to past reports it has been said that Tarkan was to duet with Turkish diva Ajda Pekkan, and that the singer would even sing a new song at the ceremony.
Rumours of a Tarkan appearance last year had surrounded the 15th Kral TV VMA event - one of the largest and reputable VMA ceremonies the Turkish music industry has - which sees a mix of categories elected by public and special jury vote to decide the year's most successful names in Turkish music.
With less than a month to go before the annual ceremony, if Tarkan decides to make an appearance it will be touted as the singer's first appearance since his arrest in March following an anti-drug sting.
