Tarkan's Home Run
On the first leg of his nationwide Turkish Avea Tour, Tarkan appeared at his hometown of Rize yesterday.
Playing live for the first time in ten years in his father's home region, Tarkan greeted his enthusiatic fans at the Atatürk Stadium with a mixture of English and Turkish songs.
Wearing the local dress of Rize, the pop singer also used local instruments for some of his songs, including the pending second release "Start the Fire".
He gave out messages of peace and understanding to a crowd of twenty thousand people, while urging people to care about the environment and the protection of the region's natural beauty. It was reported in the Turkish papers as a "plea to preserve Rize".
As with the series of venues for this summer's Tarkan Avea Tour, the concert was only for Avea GSM subscribers. Tickets were purchased either by subscribing to an Avea phone line, or buying 250 call points.
The second leg of his Avea Tour is tomorrow in Samsun, on the Turkish coast of the Black Sea.
