Tarkan: Leader of the Pack

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Tarkan poster for 2007 album MetamorfozTurkish online shopping sites have begun to release promotional pictures of Tarkan's 2007 album Metamorfoz days before it's domestic release.

The poster shows Tarkan in a shining suit, reminiscent of his "Start the Fire" image minus the hat, standing in a field of corn against the backdrop of a stormy scene. The Turkish pop icon seems to be calling his fans to follow him through the difficult times towards musical salvation.

Dressed in a suit and tie, and sporting a closely cropped haircut, the star stands astride, waiting for his flock and to preach the word; that the wind of change is coming to blow everything in its path.

It signals Metamorfoz to be Tarkan's most maturest and ground breaking work to date. Photographs are reported to be by Turkish photographer and stylist Tamer Yılmaz.

Underneath Tarkan's name and album title are Braille characters, a method that is widely used by blind people to read and write.

Turkish Press Buzz

Meanwhile, in the Turkish press, news of the up-coming album has been stirring up a storm, too, with Turkish paper Hürriyet columnist Sema Denker writing that Tarkan is returning to the Turkish music after a hiatus of four years preparing to come back with his sound "completely changed".

And involving song titles, while both Denker and reporters at another paper Sabah print that Tarkan's first music video will be to a track called "Vay Anam Vay", some still print that it is called "Vay".

Plus, while all reports confirm the album will be released under a DMC ticket, as previously published, the release date varies between 24 and 26 December. It is reportedly scheduled for released on Christmas Eve, to be in the shops for the next day and available to purchase online on Boxing day.

Tarkan Truly Goes International

Finally, Tarkan Deluxe can now reveal a project that Tarkan's fan community has been working on diligently for many months to prepare: a one-stop site for all of Tarkan's fan forums!

With close connections to Tarkan's management, and hosted at Tarkan International, the site will be the official place to catch up with all of Tarkan's fans from across the globe. The site is set to open after Tarkan's official site incorporates them into its pages.

UPDATE: Tarkan.com finally in tune with fans (2010) >>

A variety of fans, including Alx from Romania and Tarkan Deluxe contributor Teemeah have been involved with the project, which looks to finally answer one of the largest demands vaulted towards Tarkan most recently.

Tarkan's fan based support will become a force to be reckoned with, as they prepare to unite at the start of the new year.
