Tarkan Press Updates

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Major Turkish music society MÜ-YAP has updated its site with a table of the highest selling albums of 2008
Tarkan tops the list at major Turkish music society MÜ-YAP with a site update that tables the highest selling albums of 2008.
With Tarkan's 2007 Metamorfoz album now officially hitting diamond status as the highest selling album of 2008, Tarkan Deluxe brings a round-up of the latest Tarkan related news reports being circulated in the Turkish entertainment press.

Amongst the usual love gossip rumours, Turkish newspaper Hürriyet's magazine supplement Kelebek's latest reports on the artist includes news about Tarkan's highly anticipated new album, rumoured to be released in 2009 - notably that Tarkan is considering collaborations with artists that worked with him previously on his 1994 release A-acayipsin.

Catching Tarkan attending a friend's Turkish classical music event, the singer is reported to have said that, "I want to release a classic music album. But that's for later, my new album is on the way. There's going to be songs from Sezen Aksu and Yıldız Tilbe."

Meanwhile, with another Eurovision Song Contest over - shackled by political wrangling, tortuous voting systems and technical problems - the cry has gone up again for Tarkan to represent his home nation in what is considered by many to be a farcical contest.

Tarkan is slated to appear at an Izmir automotive festival on 21 June
Tarkan is slated to appear at an Izmir automotive festival on 21 June.
The artist has declined the offer numerous times, although it's reported by Turkish paper Cumhuriyet that he did call up this year's Turkish entrant, Belgian born Hadise, to give her his support. The two had first met in 2006 for an appearance at a Miss World show for Star TV.

Finally, after appearing at two festivals in the first half of May, there is now news that Tarkan will take the stage at the Otokolik Fest '09, the first automotive festival in Izmir to be held between 19-21 June this year for Star TV's Otokolik car show. Tickets can be purchased at Biletix.
