Tarkan Lauded at 13th IFA Ceremony
The annual music and media awards handed out by Turkish radio station Istanbul FM, as voted by its listeners in a poll of short-listed names from the entertainment industry that have left their mark on the year, has seen Tarkan pop protégé Emir win an award for most requested song for his track "Eline Düştüm".
Turkish public broadcaster the TRT reports that on coming to the podium to accept his first industry award at the 13th Istanbul FM Awards, the pop newcomer did not forget to thank his idol Tarkan.
When asked by one of the host speakers if he really knew Tarkan, and what he was like, Emir answered that the elusive star was "an angel".
The award ceremony has not been without controversy, however, with Milliyet entertainment journalist Ali Eyüboğlu criticising celebrities for attending the event of a radio station currently being taken to court for not paying royalties on tracks played.
Meanwhile, one time backing singer for Tarkan, Murat Boz - who also won an award that evening - thanked his girlfriend as he accepted the award.
"Behind every succesful man is a woman, and I want to thank my woman who is here tonight. I love you," Boz called out into the audience.
