Tarkan Teases His 10th

Posted by Steffan Matrak from Moscow, Russia

Turkish pop icon Tarkan has posted a teaser on YouTube and his other social media accounts in the run-up to his 2017 album's release date.

The singer has been dropping snippets of videos from his studio recordings on his Instagram account in recent months as fans eagerly await his latest songs.

Running simultaneously with his 2017 release will be his upcoming Istanbul concerts in July.

The traditional series of concerts are to be held at Tarkan's popular choice of venue at the Harbiye amphitheatre in Istanbul. Tickets are on sale at Biletix.

With a seven-year wait finally over since the singer's last pop album, the release date for Tarkan's 10th is slated for 15 June.

Around this time last year, Tarkan dropped pop single "Cuppa" on 14 July, a day before an Islamic faction in the military attempted a coup over the elected administration in Turkey.

Musical Buddy Mash-up

In addition to the teaser, the upcoming album's press release in the media reveals that alongside the pop artist's own songs, tracks by artists old and new are reportedly on the playlist.

Musical buddies Sezen Aksu and Nazan Öncel will rub shoulders with (the late, great) Aysel Gürel, Gülşah Tütüncü and Günay Çoban on the final cut of 14 tracks.

Çoban's tweets on 6 June confirm his collaboration on the album, revealing that Tarkan chose 14 songs from 40-50 tracks, adding two more to the original playlist of 12, but that last minute changes were usual with Tarkan.

Other names include Ümit Sayın, who worked on Tarkan's second studio album, A-acayipsin, while newbie Serdar İzzet Özdoğan and late nineties collaborator Murat Matthew Erdem's tag team with Ayça Z. Aydın (Miya) will also make an appearance on Tarkan's 2017 release.

Demand for the album has already been measurable, with pre-release sales in some stores putting Tarkan's new album in the top three.

"The Return of the King"

Social media users are hailing the "return of the king" of Turkish pop

Meanwhile, the news that Turkish pop icon Tarkan's eagerly awaited 2017 release has been slated for a 15 June drop has been met with online jubilation.

The buzz surrounding the #Tarkan10 hashtag has seen users tweet their joy over the "return of the king" and that the long wait was finally over.

The releases to his previous albums have been hits and award winners, and as always, expectation is high in terms of sales and airplay.

There is little doubt, however, Tarkan's 10th will get ten out of ten from his hardcore fans.
