Super Fan Pop Star's Dream Comes True

Popster and Tarkan super fan İrem Derici's dream just got real as she grabbed the chance to meet her idol backstage at the Harbiye.

Derici was at Istanbul's renowned outdoor theatre Friday evening along with her "partner in crime" music journo Serhat Tekin to watch her childhood idol perform his greatest hits past and present.

Derici is a self-confessed long-standing fan of Tarkan and a love-child of nineties Turkish pop who has millions of followers herself, but yesterday evening she was just another Tarkan fan sharing her Harbiye experience on Instagram.

From backstage and centre stage during Tarkan's second sold-out show of seven record breaking concerts, Derici and Tekin shared photographs together with Tarkan and clips from the show.

In one video clip you see Derici begging for Tarkan's sweaty face towel, while under the photo taken together with Tarkan backstage, Derici dropped the following note:

I'm going to die from happiness! The most wonderful night of my life! I found myself shouting that his guy is out of this world. I look like his auntie in the photo BUT SO WHAT?! That dazed look is of a girl who has just scored. It's an honour just to be mentioned in the same category as Tarkan, I won't forget this night, neither will the thousands here."

Looking a lot better than recent months, the 30-year-old singer songwriter has gone through some troubled times with failed relationships and cancelled TV shows, while rumours of her dissing Tarkan in the press hit the headlines recently.

Her manic moods and severe weight loss have also prompted concern over her health in the media, but Tarkan seems to be just the tonic needed for a newly single girl out on the town.

Celebrities Flock for Tarkan Time

In other press reports about Friday's musical mayhem, two famous Turkish actresses attended the jam packed show. Bergüzar Korel (distantly related to Derici) and Bensu Soral were amongst other luminaries of the screen at the show.

Korel came to wide attention appearing in Magnificent Century in the guest role of Monica Teresse. Soral recently hit the big time with last season's huge smash, crime drama Insider.

In the front row, Tarkan's wife and his mum were also in attendance to watch the artist's sweaty antics on stage last night. He called out to his mum "not to worry" about his heavy sweating, calling it an "energy explosion", while sending his love to his wife.

The papers say that bride and mother-in-law "made it up" at the concert. It's widely rumoured that the two main ladies in Tarkan's life don't get on, and the artist's mother disapproves of her daughter-in-law.
