News Snippets: More Baby Buzz

Posted by Hatice Soylu from Istanbul, Turkey

Showbiz outlets have been buzzing with more baby news from Turkish pop's megastar - this time about the money Tarkan has paid out for a baby's pram.

The Milliyet's online supplement Molatik (rebranded from Mola) has run an argument questioning whether buying a luxury branded pram for £3,000 ($4,500) is worth it, while the Hürriyet entertainment desk's three celeb journos believe the money would have been better spent on something else if the rumours are true.

Other news wires about the "pram Turkey is talking about", describes the Aston Martin brand - made famous by the James Bond movies - in detail.

Reportedly purchased from Harrods, the pram is said to make baby carrying a smooth ride for your little one, with four-wheeled suspension and weather resistant outer coverings to the cashmere blankets inside, all handmade from sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.

Ancient Name for Baby Girl?

Meanwhile, a daytime TV programme revealed the name the couple are rumoured to be considering for their baby girl yesterday. The claim was picked up by domestic and foreign language news sites.

The claim made on the celebrity gossip show is that Tarkan and his wife were thinking of the name Lidya (Lydia).

Lydia was an Iron Age kingdom of western Asia Minor located generally east of ancient Ionia, now the modern western Turkish provinces of Uşak, Manisa and inland Izmir. Its inhabitants are credited with the invention of coinage and of having strong musical talent - as well as great wealth. They spoke an Anatolian language known as Lydian.

As a name it's derived from Persian and Greek, and means "beautiful one" or "noble one". The name is in the New Testament. Lydia was the first European convert of Saint Paul.

The daytime show also mentioned Tarkan was setting a good example for other men on how to treat their wives and children.

It's rumoured the megastar has hired a private jet to shuttle his wife in comfort between Istanbul and Duisburg, while also hiring a private Turkish culinary chef to prepare her meals from 100% organic ingredients.

Meanwhile, other news wires say that Tarkan is enjoying the double excitement of preparing for approaching fatherhood and his concerts in Europe in March and April.

It's claimed Tarkan has "entrusted" his pregnant wife into the "safekeeping" of her own family in Germany while on tour, so that he can see her inbetween shows.

Described as a caring and doting husband, Tarkan is said to be dizzy with joy over recent developments.

And finally, actress and talk show host Hülya Avşar - who fell out with her country's megastar in 2011 when she felt snubbed by him at a music awards evening - congratulated Tarkan on his baby news via reporters.
