Tarkan's Ali Baba Dies

Turkish pop's megastar has posted a moving farewell to his friend, monitor engineer Wayne “Heights” Gittens, who has passed away from cancer.

In today's post, the caring megastar mentioned his "great sadness" over losing a friend he had known since 2006 and who had been a strong force on his shows.

"He was a world renowned music engineer but the beauty of his heart was above all. I'm going to miss him so much. His place will probably never be filled," he wrote.

Gittens had worked in Turkey for the past decade, and in January this year, live music venue Babylon in Istanbul was host to Turkish pop and rock's biggest names in aid of Gittens - known as Ali Baba in Turkey.

Social media shares from the staged festivities showed Tarkan and Ali Baba link up live via video from the engineer's hospital bedside to speak at the event.
